Della Florence Smith of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Saturday evening, October 20, 2012, at the Ponca City Nursing Home in Ponca City, Oklahoma, at the age of 94 years.

Della Florence Smith was born on October 27, 1917, in Eureka, Illinois, to Zimmerman H. and Lillie M. (Adams) Arnold. She attended and graduated Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kansas. She married Leonard V. Smith on April 27, 1940, in Kansas City and they moved to Blackwell in June of 1955. She obtained her licensed practical nursing certificate and worked for the Becker Medical Clinic. Her husband preceded her in death on March 7, 1996 and she continued to make Blackwell her home until moving to Ponca City. She enjoyed reading, corresponding with life long friends and taking care of her home. She was a member of the Blackwell First Christian Church, perpetual member of the Order of Eastern Star and Green Thumb Garden Club.

She is survived by a daughter, Sylvia K. Johns and husband Jerry, of Ponca City, Oklahoma; a son, Larry A. Smith and wife Hilda, of Las Vegas, Nevada; a sister, Alice E. Spencer of Kansas City, Kansas; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Skaggs of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Emily M. Wilkinson of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and David L. Smith of Las Vegas, Nevada; one great grandchild, Kayla E. Skaggs; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Elbert H. Arnold and Merle K. Arnold.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 26, 2012, at the Blackwell Cemetery in Blackwell with Rev. Jeff Koch of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in her honor with Hospice of North Central Oklahoma c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 West Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
