Bill Leroy Sartin of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday morning, January 16, 2019, in the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 85 years.

Bill Leroy Sartin was born on March 7, 1933, in Blackwell the son of Benjamin Harrison and Wilma Lucille (Hamlett) Sartin. He grew up in Blackwell and attended Blackwell Public Schools graduating in 1950. Following his education he worked for the Hazel-Atlas Glass Plant in Blackwell. He entered the United States Army on May 20, 1953, and served during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge he married Bessie Sue Parker on February 25, 1956, and they made Blackwell their home. He worked for Midwest Dairy in Ponca City as a delivery driver before working for the Acme Foundry and Blackwell Zinc Company. He then began a twelve year career working in the Conoco Refinery in Ponca City and retired in 1976. He was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed hunting, especially coon hunting, trapping mink, raccoon and beaver and selling their pelts. He also enjoyed fishing and making his own jigs and poles. Other hobbies included gardening, metal detecting, gun collecting, bird watching and various family gatherings.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Sue Sartin of Ponca City; two daughters, Denise Loveall and husband Mike of Fulshear, Texas, and Cindy Cox and husband Bart of Blackwell; a son, Ben Sartin and wife Jackie of Ft. Collins, Colorado; a sister, Brenda Hudson and husband Gene of Wichita, Kansas; twelve grandchildren, Erik Sartin and wife Nikki of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Chris Sartin and wife Anna of Temple, Texas, Stephen Sartin of San Antonio, Texas, Hannah Sartin of Breckenridge, Texas, Sadie Stotts and husband Ethan of Bartlesville, Nathan Sartin and wife Tracy of Jacksonville, Florida, Micah Sartin and wife Ashlea of Stillwater, Grant Loveall and wife Yani of Bartlesville, Parker Loveall of Bartlesville, Kara Custar and husband Jeremiah of Durham, North Carolina, Rusty Cox and wife Alexa of Wichita, Kansas, and Amy Collins and husband Sam of Blackwell; and twelve great grandchildren, Annelise, Joseph, Cosette and Mary Nelle of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Luke and Laurel Sartin of Temple, Texas, Penelope, Beckham and Juniper Stotts of Bartlesville, Malachi and Zoe Custer of Durham, North Carolina, and Jonathan Cox of Wichita, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, William Gregory“Billy” Sartin.

Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 18th in the Immanuel Baptist Church in Blackwell with Rev. Matt Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery with military rites performed by the United States Army.

Casketbearers will be Erik Sartin, Chris Sartin, Grant Loveall, Parker Loveall, Rusty Cox and Micah Sartin. Serving as honorary casketbearers will be Stephen Sartin and Nathan Sartin.

A memorial has been established in his honor with Immanuel Baptist Church Benevolence Fund in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.

Bessie Sue Sartin of Blackwell, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord and Savior December 23, 2020, at the age of 83.

Sue Parker was born January 23, 1937 in Oklahoma City at The Home of Redeeming Love, anxiously awaiting her arrival were her parents Jack and Gussie (Patton) Parker of Blackwell, Oklahoma. She attended Blackwell Public Schools graduating in 1955, the evening following the historic Blackwell tornado. During her school age years, Sue enjoyed all things music: tap dancing, accordion band, playing clarinet and bass clarinet in the BHS Band.

Shortly after graduation Sue met the love of her life, Bill Leroy Sartin. They were married February 25, 1956, celebrating 62 years of marriage prior to Bill’s death in 2019. To this union four children were born: Billy, Benny, Denise and Cindy.

Sue was a lifelong church member. As a child she and her parents attended the First Church of God. After She had her own children she joined First Baptist Church and later Immanuel Baptist Church where she was in the Hope Sunday school class. At each church home she was always ready and willing to help out where needed.

Sue enjoyed working with her hands by sewing dresses for her girls, quilting, knitting and crocheting baby blankets and afghans, cooking, baking and canning for family and friends. She also enjoyed treasure hunting, fishing, flower and vegetable gardening, bird watching and picnics with her late husband. In her later years her favorite pastime was looking forward to visits from her children, grand children, great grand children and brothers.

Sue will be remembered for her kind, gentle, loving spirit and faith. She truly lived life according to her life verse chosen as a child: Psalm 19:14. “ May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and son William Gregory (Billy) Sartin in 2007.

Sue is survived by her son Ben (Jackie) Sartin of Fort Collins CO, daughters Denise (Mike) Loveall of Fulshear TX and Cindy (Bart) Cox of Blackwell OK, two brothers Clarence (Cleo) Unsell and Vernon Unsell of Norman OK, Sister-in-law Brenda Hudson (Gene), wichita KS, Grandchildren Hannah O’Shields of Breckenridge TX ,Sadie (Ethan) Stotts, Bartlesville OK, Nathan (Tracey) Sartin of Africa, Micah (Ashlea) Sartin of Amarillo TX, Erik (Nikki) Sartin of Fort Collins CO, Chris (Anna) Sartin of Temple TX, Stephen Sartin of San Antonio TX, Grant (Yani) Loveall of Bartlesville OK and Parker Loveall of Bartlesville OK. Kara (Jeremiah) Custar of Durham NC, Rusty (Alexa) Cox of Wichita KS and Amy (Samuel) Collins of Blackwell OK. Great grandchildren: Penelope, Beckham and Juniper Stotts of Bartlesville, OK Annelise, Joseph, Cosette and Mary Nelle Sartin of Fort Collins,TX, Luke and Laurel Sartin of Temple TX, Malachi and Zoe Custar of Durham NC and Jonathan and Brooklyn Cox of Wichita KS.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 28th in the Blackwell Cemetery with Rev. Matt Smith of Immanuel Baptist Church officiating.
