February 10, 1927 - August 13, 2022

Maggie Dee Miller-Newland-Storts got her wings on August 13, 2022, at the age of 95 years.

Maggie Dee Miller-Newland-Storts was born on February 10, 1927, in Blackwell, Oklahoma the daughter of George Francis Miller and Mary Myrtle (Alls) Miller. Maggie attended Blackwell High School and went on to earn her GED after World War II.

In 1944 she married Burle C. Newland. To this union five children were born: George A. Newland, Charlotte Newland Ellis, Sheila Newland Flaker, John Newland, and Sharon Newland Lowder. Maggie and Burle divorced in 1967 and Maggie went on to marry Joseph Jesse Storts in 1981.

She worked at Bob's Grill, Peter Pan Ice Cream, Braums and the Plainsman Restaurant for many years.

Maggie was preceded in death by a brother, George F. Miller; her husbands; a son, George Newland; granddaughter, Janet Butzback; and two great-grandsons, C. Lawrence and Erick Nichols.

Survivors include children, Sheila Newland Flaker (The late Richard Flaker), Charlotte Newland Ellis (Billy), John Newland (Doris), Sharon Newland Lowder (The late Don Lowder); a sister, Francis Hawks; 17 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; and 42 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2022, in the chapel at Roberts and Son Funeral Home with Tracy Fitzgerald of Pawhuska, Oklahoma officiating. Burial will follow in Blackwell Cemetery.

Viewing will take place prior to the service.

Casketbearers will be Nick Carson, Jeffery Butzback, Bobby Nichols, Gene Sedam, Shawn Wilson and Stephen Newland.

Honorary casketbearers will be Tillie Gaither, Katelynn Gaither, Jess Adams, Michael Gaither and Ben Buck.

Memorial contributions can be made in her honor to the Blackwell VFW, sent in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
