Mary Eloise Reser, age 89, longtime resident of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, March 2, 2020, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital.

Eloise Reser was born on May 30, 1930, in Blackwell to Alva Clarence and Lottie Mae (Davis) Hawkins. She grew up in Blackwell and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1948. She married Verne L. Reser on June 20, 1951, in Newkirk and they made their home in Blackwell. He preceded her in death on December 18, 1985, and she continued to make Blackwell her home. Eloise worked at various businesses including the Palace Theater, Southwestern Bell Telephone, Hunt’s Department Store, Wolfe’s Grocery Store, as well as having an answering service in her home that she and Verne worked together. She served as a volunteer at the Blackwell Regional Hospital Gift Shop, Top of Oklahoma Museum and the Blackwell Humane Society. She was quick to come to the rescue of any cats in need of a home. She loved her family and enjoyed time with them.

She is survived by her son, David Reser and wife Janet of Blackwell; a granddaughter, Dawn Sheaffer and husband Michael of Dallas, Texas; a grandson, Kyle Reser and wife Casey of Edmond; an older brother, Max Hawkins and wife Helen of Newcastle, Washington; and good friends, Jose and Adriana Angeles.

She is also survived by three great granddaughters, Elle, Evelyn and Eloise, whom she loved very much.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Michael; a daughter, Linda; and a younger sister, Lottie Hawkins.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 6th in the Blackwell Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Koch officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Honorary casketbearers will be Kyle Reser, Mike Sheaffer, Gary Haskins, Shawn Haskins, Jose Angeles and Benjamin Angeles.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to the Blackwell Animal Control in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
