James William Roberts III
August 28, 1958 - June 27, 2025

James William Roberts III was born on August 28, 1958 in Blackwell, Oklahoma to James William and Betty Jo (Conner) Roberts. He grew up in Blackwell until the age of 5 when the family moved to Purcell, Oklahoma. In 1970, they returned to Blackwell where he attended Blackwell Public Schools graduating in 1976. He furthered his education at Northern Oklahoma Junior College in Tonkawa and Oklahoma State University in Stillwater where he graduated and received his Bachelor's Degree in 1981.

Jimmy began his educational career working at Northern Oklahoma Junior College and then worked as a teacher/coach at Newkirk, Ralston, Schulter and Edmond Public Schools. He later received his Masters Degree from the University of Central Oklahoma.

He married Susan Willis on May 27, 1995 and they settled in Blackwell, Oklahoma. Jimmy and Susan both received their Bachelors in Mortuary Science from the University of Central Oklahoma and they joined the family business.

Jimmy was a member of Quail Springs Baptist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma where he taught Sunday School. Throughout his lifetime, he served on multiple boards and committees with various organizations. Most recently, he served on the Oklahoma Funeral Board, Christian School Board of Directors. He enjoyed playing golf and attending OSU athletic events. His greatest love was traveling with Susan and Vic to numerous destinations, attending family functions where he enjoyed a good laugh, and eating at really good restaurants. He truly enjoyed watching his son, Vic, play a variety of instruments, compose music and sing with such emotion and heart.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Roberts, of Edmond, Oklahoma; his son, James Victor Roberts, of Edmond, Oklahoma; his mother, Betty Jo Roberts of Blackwell; his sisters, Jan Marshall and husband Robert, of Carrollton, Texas; Jamie Edington and her husband, Joe of Greenville, Texas; 2 brother-in-laws, Brent Willis of Edmond, Oklahoma; Mark Willis and his wife, Tracy of Edmond, Oklahoma; 5 Nephews, Ben Marshall, Sam Marshall, James Strahorn, John Strahorn, and Landon Willis and two nieces, Sarah Weatherly and Landry Willis. Also surviving are 6 great nephews and 4 great nieces. Jimmy was preceded in death by his dad, James "Jim" William Roberts; his paternal grandparents, J.R. and Leona Roberts; maternal grandparents, Pat and Euna Conner; and a great aunt, Opal Willard.

A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Quail Springs Baptist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma with Dr. Jeff DeGiacomo, Senior Pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church of Shawnee, Oklahoma officiating. A private family burial will be held at the Blackwell Cemetery.

A live stream of the Celebration of Life will be available here around 1:50 pm. The Quail Springs Baptist Church will also be streaming the service on their Facebook and YouTube pages.

A memorial has been established in his name with Quail Springs Baptist Church.

Family will be at the funeral home on Monday, June 30th from 9:00am to 7:00pm and Tuesday, July 1st from 9:00am to 5:00pm to receive friends.
