July 12, 1949 - April 15, 2023

Hubert William Penka Jr. formerly of Ponca City, Oklahoma, died Saturday evening, April 15, 2023, in the Weatherford Regional Hospital in Weatherford, Oklahoma, at the age of 73 years.

Hubert William Penka Jr. was born on July 12, 1949, in Great Bend, Kansas, to Hubert William and Mary Lou (Helms) Penka. He grew up in various communities in Kansas. Following high school graduation he moved to Colorado to attend Denver Community College where he received his bachelors degree in mechanical engineering. He then moved to Oklahoma where he began working at the Blackwell Zinc Company in the evenings while completing his masters degree at Oklahoma State University. Upon completion of his masters degree he began working for Smith-Gruner in Ponca City where he retired with over thirty years of service. After retirement he opened Midwest Cycle in Ponca City and specialized in custom motorcycles. In 2023 he moved to the Veteran's Home in Clinton, Oklahoma, to make his home.

He was a member of various motorcycle clubs including Biker's for Christ and United Methodist Motorcycle Association as a part of the Round Table. He also enjoyed racing corvettes, fishing and camping.

He is survived by a daughter, Kristie Vess of Bristow, Oklahoma; a son, Ryan Penka of Hutchinson, Kansas; a sister, Eve Inscore of Medford, Oklahoma; a brother, Don Penka of Owasso, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 27th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Evans of Cornerstone Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial will be in the Blackwell Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in his honor with Abate Toy Run (Toys for Tots) - Tulsa Chapter in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
