Michael Patrick Murphy of Blackwell, Oklahoma passed away July 7, 2016 at the age of 72.

Michael was born June 9, 1944 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Edgar and June (Hawkins) Murphy. He moved to Blackwell in the early 1950’s with his family and attended Blackwell schools, graduating with the Class of 1962. As a young man he enjoyed hunting and running around with many friends including Ronnie May and the Pameticky boys. He worked for Ralph’s Grocery Store and then for Pam’s Hardware where he learned to plumb, which became his life’s trade. Michael married the love of his life Amanda Jane Brown in April 1966. They made their home in Blackwell having 4 children: Amanda, Deanna, Krista, and Michael ll. Michael started his plumbing business (Murphy’s Plumbing) in 1977 which he ran until his passing. He enjoyed spending time with family, playing trains and dinosaurs with his grandson Michael lll, and meeting for dinner with his friends/classmates of 1962.

Michael is survived by his daughters Amanda Murphy & daughter-in-law Sharon Evans, Deanna Nichols, Krista Haynes & husband Danny, Son Michael Murphy ll & wife Megan, Grandchildren Kayli Ponder & husband Heath, Marty Nichols, Stephen & Elizabeth Haynes, Meric Bennett, Angel Phillips, Sarah Bruner, and Michael Murphy lll. Sisters Georgia Bennett, Albina O’Dell & husband Paul, Joyce Rowe & husband Clayton, Brothers Edgar Murphy Jr., Lucky Pat Murphy & wife Robin, Sisters-in-law Glenda Sue Parris & husband Larry, Jean Brown, Brothers-in-laws Chuck Kittrell & wife Linda, Gary Brown & wife Dora, and many many nieces and nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife Amanda Jane Brown, his parents Edgar & June (Hawkins) Murphy, granddaughter Kathy Jane, Father & Mother-in-law Orville & Oleta (Fisher) Brown, and brother-in-law Jack Brown.

Honorary Casket bearers will be Chris Barker, Neil McMartin, DeAngelo Stiggers, Dee Engle, Larry Edgar, and Chris Brown.

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday July 15, 2016 2 pm at Trout Funeral Home 301 West Blackwell Blackwell, Oklahoma.
