Allen Ray Mullins, age 78, of Blackwell, Oklahoma, transitioned to his heavenly home Friday afternoon, June 26, 2015, in the Ponca City Medical Center with his family by his side.

Allen Ray Mullins was born on December 7, 1936, in Depew, Oklahoma, to Allen Luther and Doris Laverne (Barnett) Mullins. He grew up in Bristow, Oklahoma until the age of 12 and then moved to Blackwell. While in high school, he was employed by Smith Building where he learned the art of cabinet making and building houses. This knowledge allowed him to be selected for the Construction Battalion of the US Navy SeaBees. He married Carol Sue Eckert on June 12, 1960, in Blackwell, recently celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary. He was employed at Blackwell Zinc, Blackwell Foundry, and Smith International where he spent many years welding; and upon retirement drove a star mail route. Ray spent his time coaching little league football and baseball and was also a Boy Scout Leader. He enjoyed reading Louis L'Amour novels, spending time with family, boating, camping, and carpentry and also was known to drink an occasional Coca Cola. He was a member of the Blackwell First Baptist Church and spent many hours helping at the church. The last 20 years he was associated with the Blackwell Red Cross and also served on their board.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Sue Mullins of Blackwell; daughter, Tari Cunningham and husband Kevin of Tulsa; son, Ty Mullins of Sulphur; two granddaughters, Cassidy Cunningham and Cori Beth Cunningham of Tulsa; sister, Gerry Tingley and husband Charles of Ponca City; two sister in laws, Virginia Brewer of Grand Lake and Glenda Leslie of Blackwell; and brother in law, Lloyd Leslie and many nieces and nephews, and his grandpuppy CoCo.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Allen Luther Mullins; mother, Doris Laverne Mullins Davis; and bonus dad, Baxter Davis.

Committal services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at the Blackwell Cemetery, Blackwell, Oklahoma. Memorial services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at the First Baptist Church, Blackwell, with Rev. Randy Ratliff officiating.

Honorary casket bearers are Ty Mullins, Charles Tingley, Kevin Cunningham, Lloyd Leslie and Gary Leslie.

A memorial has been established with the First Baptist Church c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 West Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631. The family is staying at 2509 Turner Road in Ponca City.
