April 11, 1938 - February 19, 2015
Sharlene Morrill of Ponca City, Oklahoma, died February 19, 2015, at the Ponca City Medical Center in Ponca City, Oklahoma, at the age of 76 years.
Sharlene Morrill was born on April 11, 1938, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Charley Warren and Gladys Rose (Fawcett) Smith. She grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1956. She furthered her education for one semester at the Northern Oklahoma Junior College in Tonkawa. While in college she began working as a secretary for the Frank Robbins Insurance in Blackwell. She married Jerry Dee Morrill on December 14, 1958, in Blackwell and they made their home in Blackwell. She continued her career as a secretary working for various companies. In 1962 they moved to Tonkawa to make their home. Following Jerry's retirement in 1996, they moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, and lived there until March of 2014 when they moved to Ponca City to be near family. She enjoyed gardening, making stained glass, arts and crafts, playing bridge, and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law, Willard Morrill; her mother-in-law and husband, Helen and Tom Hall; her brother and sister-in-law; Lance and Sally Morrill; and her son-in-law, Dennis Kinkaid.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Morrill of Ponca City; two daughters, Kelley Conaghan and husband Charles of Tonkawa, and Dayna Gibson and husband Bobby of Ponca City; four grandchildren, Amber Taylor and husband Mike of Blackwell, Brittany McKenzie of Ponca City, Austin Unruh of Ponca City, and Cale McKenzie of Tonkawa; one step-grandson, Adam Gibson of Ponca City; two great grandchildren, Preston Kesinger and Emily Kesinger; her sister, Sharon Payne of Edmond, Oklahoma; two brothers-in-law, Howard Hall and wife Donna of The Woodlands, Texas, and Dick Hall and wife Karen of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 25th at the First United Methodist Church in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, with Rev. Janice Sharp officiating.
A memorial has been established in her memory with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for lupus research in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
