Marcelino Diaz Lopez of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Saturday morning, April 2, 2016, at the Wesley Woodlawn Hospital, Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 78 years. Marcelino Diaz Lopez was born on January 16, 1938 in Durango, Mexico, to Martin Diaz and Tomasa Lopez. He worked as a farmer and bartender in Durango before moving to Chihuahua, Mexico, where he worked as a food vender. He moved to the United States in 2008. He married his longtime companion of forty-five years, Emma Diaz in 2010. He enjoyed riding his bike around town, listening to music and taking care of his rooster “Poncho.” He loved spending time with his family, and was always joking and was a happy person.

He is survived by his wife Emma Diaz Lopez of Blackwell; two daughters, Silvia Hernandez and husband Ezequiel of Blackwell, and Miriam Diaz and husband Raul of Mexico; three sons, Juan Diaz Cortez and companion Maria of Ponca City, Marcelino Diaz Cortez and wife Maria of Stillwater and Mario Diaz Cortez and wife Maria Gonzalez of Stillwater; fifteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, three sisters and five brothers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Blackwell, Oklahoma, with Father Kevin Ratterman officiating. Burial will follow at the Blackwell Cemetery.

Rosary services are scheduled for 6:00 p.m., Monday, April 4, 2016, at the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel.

Casketbearers will be Mario Diaz, Marcelino Diaz, Juan Paulo Diaz, Ezequiel Hernandez, Luis Alberto Hernandez and Ezequiel Hernandez-Diaz
