Peggy L. Lucas, of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away on May 9, 2026, in Blackwell, at the age of 83 years.

Peggy L. Lucas was born on October 29, 1942, in Arkansas City, Kansas. She was the daughter of John Wilson and Thelma Arnetta (Burkhalter) Shreck. As a small child, she moved with her family to Oregon, and they later moved back to Blackwell where she attended Blackwell Public Schools, graduating from Blackwell High School in 1960. She then furthered her education in Oklahoma City, where she went to Beauty School. Following her education, she moved back to Blackwell and began working for her father at Shreck Barber Shop.

She married Fred Lucas on March 7, 1961, in Blackwell, where they made their home. In 1976, she began working for Blackwell Public Schools - retiring in 2008. Following her retirement, they traveled and spent time with their grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and baking and would regularly volunteer for both the Hospital and for the American Red Cross. She loved her church family and was very active in the Blackwell Church of Christ. Following Fred's passing on September 17, 2014, she continued to make Blackwell her home.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Bob, Chuck, Jim, and John.

She is survived by three sons: Terry Lucas of Frederick, Oklahoma, John Lucas and wife Shelli of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Scott Lucas and wife Bobbie of Blackwell; one daughter, Jennifer Ray and husband Jeff of Braman, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren: Tiffany Bagwell (Tipton, Oklahoma), Andrew Lucas (Frederick, Oklahoma), Bryan Lucas (Tulsa, Oklahoma), Alyssa Soutter (Titasville, Florida), T.J. Greenfield (Blackwell, Oklahoma), Hollie Cox (Cushing, Oklahoma), Brylee Ray (Edmond, Oklahoma), Brooklyn Ray (Braman, Oklahoma), and Bryson Ray (Braman, Oklahoma); seven great-grandchildren: Kinsley Bagwell, Bowen Bagwell, Samuel Soutter, Kaylee Soutter, Tatum Greenfield, Brinley Cox, and Austin Cox; and one sister, Carol Johns of Goldsby, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Peggy's honor to the Blackwell Church of Christ, 1035 S. Main, Blackwell, Oklahoma.

A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, May 15, 2026, at the Blackwell Church of Christ, with Lanny Jobe officiating.

Burial to follow at the Blackwell Cemetery.
