Stephen L. Lanie, 88, of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away on September 20, 2025, in his home.

Stephen was born on January 7, 1937 in Enid, Oklahoma, to Leo Cefoi Lanie and Marie Hicks.

He graduated from Blackwell High School with the class of 1955. Stephen married Sharon Jeanette Cole on July 30, 1960, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Tonkawa, Oklahoma.

Prior to his deployment with the US Navy, Stephen briefly attended Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa. Following his Naval service, Stephen began a career in the oil refining industry, working for Conoco-Phillips for 30 years before retiring in 1995.

Stephen was an avid fisherman, and loved taking his kids fishing and teaching them to water ski. He also enjoyed farming, hunting, and volunteering for the Habitat for Humanity - making use of his handyman skills and his hobbies of woodworking and clock repair. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus as well as a member of the St Joseph's Church Board. He was a devoted husband and father, and cherished time spent with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Colleen Schiltz; and brother, William Lanie.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Lanie of Blackwell; his daughter, Toni Lanie Stone and her husband, Terry, of Lawton, Oklahoma; his daughter, Tonya Bevins and her husband, Bryan, of Perry, Oklahoma; his grandchildren: Chelsea Harris of Broomfield, Colorado; Justina Bell of San Francisco, California; Blair Blay of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; Dustin Hall of Nardin, Oklahoma; Marissa Bevins of Perry, Oklahoma; and his great-grandchildren: Ethan Harris, Jacob Blay, Jordan Harris, Lanie Hall, and Nolan Harris.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 24, until 8:00 PM, at Roberts & Son Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 25, at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Blackwell. Father Balaswamy Bathini will officiate. Burial to follow at Blackwell Cemetery.

Casketbearers include John Schiltz, Leo Schiltz, Neil Jones, Dustin Hall, Terry Stone, and Stan Claybaker. Honorary Casketbearers include David Chapman, David Young, Jacob Blay, and Jeff Mackay

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the OU Children's Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
