November 23, 1913 - December 11, 2007

Alva Wayne Kivett was born on November 23, 1913, in Page, Nebraska, to Aldur O. and Edna May (Buster) Kivett. As a young boy he moved with his family to Kansas where he graduated from Friends Academy in Haviland, Kansas, in 1932. In 1933 he moved to Manchester, Oklahoma, where he began his farming operation. On March 11, 1934, he married Muriel Lee Clark in Manchester and they settled on a farm southwest of Manchester. In May of 1945 they moved to a farm west of Blackwell where they continued to farm. His wife preceded him in death on June 16, 1980, and he continued living on the farm. He retired from his farming operation, which he thoroughly enjoyed, in 1984 and on January 26, 1985, he married Thelma DeWitt in Turpin, Oklahoma, and they settled on the farm west of Blackwell. They moved into Blackwell in the summer of 2007 to make their home. He was a member of the Braman Methodist Church and A.A.R.P.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma Kivett of Blackwell; a son, Kenneth Kivett of Blackwell; a daughter, Shirley Lee Franklin of Pearl, Mississippi; a step-son, Gerald DeWitt of Braman; a step-daughter, Virginia Mears of Annandale, Virginia; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Agnes Elder and Merla Marie Kivett.

Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 14th, at the Braman Methodist Church with the Rev. C. M. Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Honorary casketbearers will be Bob Marsh, Vern Willbanks, Lloyd Leslie and Morris Foreaker. Casketbearers will be Sam Ashford, Larry Davis, Larry Shields, Todd Goodman, Ned Sweetser and David Corneil.

A memorial has been established at the Braman Methodist Church in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
