Roxanna "Roxie" Beggs Johns, 80, of Newkirk, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on December 19, 1945, in Enid, Oklahoma, Roxie was the daughter of Vivian Northcutt Beggs and was lovingly raised by her aunt and uncle, Kenneth and Flossie Johnson, in Medford, Oklahoma. She graduated from Medford High School with the Class of 1963, and married the love of her life, Marvin O. Johns, on June 13, 1964. Together, they shared more than 62 years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family, and unconditional love.
Roxie will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother affectionately known as "Beba," and a faithful friend. She loved gathering her family around the table where good food, laughter, stories, and love were always plentiful. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, and she never met a stranger.
Her Christian faith was the foundation of her life, and she lived it daily through kindness, generosity, compassion, and prayer. If you knew Roxie, you knew you always had a place at her table, a warm meal waiting, and someone praying for you long before you ever asked.
Alongside her husband, Marvin, Roxie helped build and operate their family businesses - first J & J Trenching, and later Marco Manufacturing. Working side by side, they built more than successful businesses; they built a life defined by perseverance, integrity, teamwork, and love.
For many years, Roxie faithfully served as the secretary of her beloved First United Methodist Church. She was actively involved in every aspect of church life, serving through United Methodist Women, teaching Sunday School, helping prepare funeral dinners for grieving families, and quietly stepping in wherever she was needed. Her servant's heart extended far beyond the church walls. She generously gave her time to the Lady Lions Club, the Jaycees, the Newkirk Chamber of Commerce, Friendship Feast, the Kaw Lake Association, and a tutoring program where she spent many years encouraging young students. She was deeply involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren, rarely missing an opportunity to support, encourage, or simply be present. Over the years, Roxie was recognized for her many volunteer efforts, though awards were never what motivated her. Helping others simply came naturally.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Marvin O. Johns; her daughters, Kimberly Vap and husband Dale, and Angela Gee and her husband, Daryle; her grandchildren, Jerod and Andie Vap, Tanner and Shaelyn Vap, Tabitha and David Griffith, Michael Locke, Wrangler Gee, Paxton Gee, Landry Gee, Nathan and Haley Gregg, and Ashley Gregg; her great-grandchildren, Maddox Vap, Sawyer Vap, Tate Vap, Jaxon Gee, Kory Mangus, Oaklee Griffith, Emery Jo Gregg, Hayden Gregg, and Charley Gregg; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her biological mother, Vivian Beggs; aunt and uncle Kenneth and Flossie Johnson; her sons, Troy Johns and Jeffery Gregg; and her brothers, Warren Beggs, Butch Beggs, and Ron Privett.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Angel of Care team, hospice team, caregivers, family, friends, and everyone who offered prayers, visits, meals, cards, and words of encouragement during Roxie's illness. Your love and support brought comfort and strength to our family, and will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be held at Roberts and Son Funeral Home, Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Newkirk, Oklahoma, on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 2:00 PM, with Jim Hollifield officiating. Burial will follow at the Blackwell Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations in Roxie's name be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma.
To us, she was simply Mom and Beba. Our greatest blessing was not that she belonged to us, but that God chose her to be ours.
