Helen Joy Welch Hurst, 84, was born October 5, 1930 in Iola, KS to Harry and Angeline (Kline) Jeffers and passed away November 4, 2014 in Edmond, OK. She was the youngest of 9 children.

She married Orla Hurst on September 1, 1947 and spent 40 years together. They had 3 children, daughter Sandra Beard and husband Ron Beard of Guthrie, OK, son Jack Hurst and wife Barbara Cline Hurst of Blackwell, OK, daughter Judy Courtney and husband Monty Courtney of Edmond, OK. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. After Orla passing, Helen married Max Welch of Blackwell.

After Max's death, Helen moved to Edmond, OK to be closer to her daughters. She was a kind, loving, hospitable lady that gladly cooked huge meals for family gatherings. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren. Helen and Max enjoyed traveling and lving in south Texas during the winter.

She will be missed by her family and all that knew her friendly smile. Friends are invited to join the family on November 6, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. for a graveside service at the Blackwell Cemetery. Service are under the direction of Crawford Family Funeral Service, Edmond.
