Ramona Jean Hardin of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Monday afternoon, June 3, 2019, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital at the age of 82 years.

Ramona Jean Hardin was born on August 23, 1936, in Manhattan, Kansas, to Harry and Goldie (Frisby) Holland. As a young girl she moved with her family to Blackwell where she attended Blackwell Public Schools. She married Joseph Lonzo Hardin on October 6, 1951, in Newkirk and they settled in Blackwell where she served her family as a homemaker. In the early 1980’s she began working in the elementary school cafeterias serving as a cook and server until her retirement in the late 1990’s. Following her retirement she returned to the home to care for her family. Her husband preceded her in death on October 22, 2008, and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and enjoyed working all types of puzzles, especially crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed gardening and caring for cats.

She is survived by her son, Lonnie Hardin of Blackwell; a sister, Thelma Bryant of Blackwell; two grandchildren, Brandon and Kayce Hardin of Blackwell; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dale and Don Holland; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Hardin; and a granddaughter, Victoria Hardin.

Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Thursday, June 6th in the First Baptist Church in Blackwell with Rev. Cap McIlnay of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Gary Bryant, Larry Bryant, Derek Bryant, Mark Bryant, Aaron Laurence and Brock Alexander.

A memorial has been established in her honor with the First Baptist Church and the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for cancer research in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
