Hugh Allison GALLOWAY

Blackwell Cemetery

January 12, 1937 - February 15, 2022

Hugh Allison Galloway passed away on February 15, 2022 in New Rochelle, NY.

Hugh was born on January 12, 1937 in New York City to Roma and Herbert Galloway, and spent his childhood in Tudor City and Pelham. He attended Yale University, where he made life-long friends and earned both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in engineering (1958, 1960).

Hugh worked as a civil engineer throughout his long career. He loved New York City and worked for the city for a number of years, notably on One Penn Plaza. He spent most of his life in New Rochelle, with interludes in California and Washington, D.C., and frequent trips to visit friends and their families in different parts of the United States and, later, Wales.

Hugh's many friends remark on his kindness. He loved spending time with them, enjoying golf, photography and dining, and attending engineering talks and musical performances. His breadth of knowledge and sharp memory made him an excellent Jeopardy companion, a formidable Scrabble player, and skillful enthusiast of the New York Times Sunday crossword.

Hugh was preceded in death by his beloved mother and father, and sister Gara Lee (Galloway) Alesch. He is survived by loving family members Noel Alesch, Clare Murray and Jeanine Alesch.

A graveside service to honor Hugh's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, February 28, 2022, at Blackwell Cemetery in Blackwell, Oklahoma.

Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels, sent in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
