Lynda Mae Canaday, 73, passed away on July 6, 2017, in Tonkawa, OK. She was born a twin on January 19, 1944 in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Lloyd and Opal McHenry. Lynda graduated from Blackwell high school in 1962, and was married the same year to Lewis Clonts in Blackwell. In 1964, they moved to Wichita, Kansas, but then returned to Blackwell in 1965. It was then that Lynda started working in the food industry. Later, she married Garry Canaday, and they settled in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, where she worked at Mary’s Café. Lynda was the loyal wife of a rough neck and lived wherever his work took him.
Lynda was an employee for the Perry, Oklahoma superintendent of schools and later worked at Southwest Cupid in Blackwell for eight years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Beaver and Blackwell, Oklahoma, and a member of the Class of 1962 Dinner Club. She also held membership in Clan Henderson and ABATE of Oklahoma. She loved people watching, live music, dancing, and riding on motorcycles. Lynda is preceded in death by her husband, Garry Canaday; her parents, Lloyd and Opal McHenry; twin sister, Lynna Linn; a great niece, Jennifer Killman; and a nephew, Jerry Killman. She is survived by her four sons, Sonny Clonts of Kaw City, Tim Clonts of Warrenton, Virginia, Garry Canaday of Tonkawa, and Danny Canaday of Garber; her niece, Gina Hunter of Larned, Kansas; three nephews, Lee Killman of Larned, Kansas, Jack Killman of Great Bend, Kansas, and Brad Thomas of Tonkawa; twelve grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 11th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with Sister Rita Talbott (CMA Fajita) officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Honorary casketbearers will be Lee Killman, Jack Killman, Brad Thomas, Kevin Kennon and Keith Kennon. Casketbearers will be Sonny Clonts, Tim Clonts, Garry Canaday and Danny Canaday.
A memorial has been established in her honor with Wounded Warriors in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
