Jack Edward Clinkingbeard
March 16, 1929 - May 2, 2025
Jack Edward Clinkingbeard of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away May 2, 2025, in McAlester, Oklahoma, at the age of 96 years.
Jack Edward Clinkingbeard was born March 16, 1929, in Braman, Oklahoma, to Harrison and Grace (Sears) Clinkingbeard. He grew up and attended Braman Schools until the second grade when he attended Blackwell Public Schools. He entered the United States Air Force serving at the end of World War II. He married Velma Jean Dirkson on May 20, 1949, in Medford and they settled in Rapid City, South Dakota, where he was stationed. Following his discharge he returned to Northern Oklahoma where he worked for the Blackwell Fire Department. He began his ministry as the pastor of Southside Nazarene in Blackwell. He also ministered in Tonkawa, Pawnee, Newkirk, Jet and Ponca City. He also worked for the Acme Foundry and Blackwell Public Schools as a bus driver and in the maintenance department. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2001 and he remained in Blackwell until he moved to McAlester in 2020 to be near a daughter, Angela. He was a longtime member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Blackwell. He enjoyed drawing and painting, playing guitar and sharing conversation and coffee at the donut shop with various friends. He also enjoyed taking photos and loved to work as a storm spotter in Kay County.
He is survived by four daughters, Jacqulyn Sims of Ponca City, Carolyn Starks of Rogers, Arkansas, Darlene Rickel of Blackwell and Angela Chermack of McAlester; a son, Terry Clinkingbeard of Bentonville, Arkansas; a sister, Wanda Kelly of Illinois; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Minnie Clinkingbeard and Marie White; and a brother, Robert Clinkingbeard.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 9th in the First Church of the Nazarene with his son-in-law, Larry Starks officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Jay Rickel, Scott Sims, Eric Sims, Jeremiah Sims, Michael Starks and Brandon Starks.
A memorial has been established with First Church of the Nazarene, 218 South A Street, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
