April 14, 1920 - March 24, 2015

Leta Belle Turner Barnett, age 94, resident of Blackwell, passed away March 24, 2015, in Blackwell. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday March 28, 2015 at the First Baptist Church-Blackwell with Pastor Randy Ratliff officiating. Burial will then follow at the Blackwell Cemetery in Blackwell. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home of Blackwell.

Leta was born in Ponca City on April 14, 1920 to Wilbur W. Turner and Edna E. Buzzi Turner. When she was 3 years old her parents moved to Tonkawa and lived there about 5 years. They then moved west of Marland, Oklahoma. Leta Belle attended Grandview Baptist Church located south of Tonkawa and joined the church when she was 12 years old. In 1936, she married Cyrus Grand Barnett. The lived in Ponca City until 1942 and then moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma. Their marriage produced 5 children: Patricia, Wesley, Kenneth, Phyllis, and Ronald. After moving to Blackwell, she became a member of the First Baptist Church. She worked in the Primary Department for many years. She was active in the WMU and other activities. She also cooked at Fall's Creek for the youth group. Leta Belle was a den mother for the Cub Scouts and a Home Room mother at the Washington School for several years. She was a member of the VFW auxiliary and volunteered at the Hospital and the Good Buy Store.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter, Patricia Kahle, her parents, four sisters, two brothers, and one grandson.

Leta Belle is survived by her sons, Wesley and Nancy Barnett of Broken Arrow, OK, Kenneth Barnett of Donie, TX, Ronald and Janet Barnett of Edmond, OK, and one daughter, Phyllis and William McAdams, of Aztec, NM. She has 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 18 great great grandchildren.

She was loved by her family and will be deeply missed.

Casket Bearers will be Michael Kahle, Carlton McAdams, Bill Smith, Sethe Locke, Jase Locke, and Wade Barnett.

Visitation will held at Trout Funeral Home in Blackwell on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 5pm-8pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, 123 S. First Street, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
