Richard Warner Balderston of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Friday evening, February 20, 2015, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Blackwell at the age of 81 years.

Richard Warner Balderston was born on January 10, 1934, in Blackwell to Loren R. and Ethel (Warner) Balderston. He grew up in Blackwell and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1952. He furthered his education by attending Northern Oklahoma Junior College in Tonkawa. Following his education he worked as a finish carpenter in the Kay County area. He also worked for Wix Lumber Company in Ponca City and as a control operator for KOKB radio station in Blackwell. Other jobs included working as a draftsman for Cessna in Wichita, Kansas, in building maintenance at Northern Oklahoma College and for fifteen years he worked for Lowe’s in Ponca City. He enjoyed attending the steam engine show in Pawnee. He also enjoyed cars, car shops and train shows. He was a member of the Baptist church.

He is survived by cousins, Donald Moore and wife Devona of Independence, Kansas, Rich Warner of Oklahoma City, Mark Moore and wife Willa of Wichita, Kansas, Barbara Moore of Oklahoma City, Jo Ella Affholder and Fred Affholder, both of Blackwell.

Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 28th in the Bethesda Assembly of God in Blackwell. A private family burial will occur.

A memorial has been established in his honor with the Evangelistic Faith Missions, P. O. Box 609, Bedford, Indiana 47421.
