Tishomingo Funeral Home
(permission granted)

Funeral services for Brad Columbus Gilbert will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2020, at the Ravia Church of God with Rev. Lynn Gipson officiating.

Burial will follow at Ravia Cemetery with Son Brad Gilbert Jr.; Son-in-Laws James Barnett and Cal Bowman; Grandsons Raymond Barnett, Charles Barnett, Shelton Barnett, Nicolas Barnett; and Francisco Martinez serving as pall bearers.

Brad was born November 10, 1941 in Talihina, Oklahoma to the late Harrison Columbus Gilbert and Alyeen (Payne) Gilbert. He was a graduate of Ravia High School and later went to pursue a career in the oil field business. From the 1970s to the 1990s, Brad worked as a driller for several different oil companies in Oklahoma and west Texas. He wore many hats in the oil field business from driller, gang pusher, roustabout, and even did some oil field consulting before his retirement in 2003. Brad married Sandra (Crow) Gilbert on July 5, 2014 in Commerce, TX, and lived most of their married life together in Ravia. In his free time, Brad enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was also famous for his "tinkering", and these so-called skills were even tested on Sandra's kitchen cabinets....to no avail. It has been said that he was an ‘expert at everything and a master of none’,  with the main tools of his trade being duct tape and JB Weld. Brad passed away at Carrus Specialty Hospital February 3, 2020.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Scott Bradley Gilbert, a brother, Ernest Gilbert, a brother in law, Calvin Nelson Sr. and a great-grandson, Otis Martinez.

He is survived by his wife Sandra of the home; sons, Quent Gilbert and wife Jeannine of Midland, Tx., Brad Gilbert Jr. and wife, Tabby of Kermit, Tx; daughters, Pallie Bowman and husband Cal of Tishomingo, Tara Barnett and husband James of Ravia; sisters, Daisy Lavonn Benge and husband Chester of Ardmore, Connie Gayle Stevens of Ravia, and Evelyn Kay Nelson of Tishomingo; Grandchildren, Cameron, Payton, Avery, Alexander, Kolt, Raymond, Charles, Shelton, Ali, Nicolas, Gianna, Taryn, Tanner, Duncan, Brian, and Mitchell;  great-grandchildren,  Riley, Scarlett, Finley, Samuel, Ava, Priscilla, and Carter.

A time of visitation and support for family and friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Tishomingo Funeral Home.

Condolences may be sent to the family online at tishomingofuneralhome.com.
