SHAWNEE, Okla. —
Shawnee resident Mozell Stillwell died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010, in Shawnee at the age of 87.
She was born Monday, March 19, 1923 in Northern Bryan County, Okla., to Frank P. Vandeventer and Eura (Love) Vandeventer. She graduated from Cobb High School in May 1940 and attended Southeastern for one year.
Mozell worked at Bryan Memorial Hospital, which is now the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma for 42 years as a ward clerk. She was a member of the 7th and Beech Church of Christ for 50 years and Northridge Church of Christ after moving to live with her son in 2004. Her happiest times were those spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; sisters, Kay Fite and Inez Vandeventer; brother, Franklin Vandeventer and nephew, Berrie Fite.
Survivors include her son, Larry Stillwell and wife Polly of Shawnee; granddaughters, Stacey Willmon and husband Curtis of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and Susan Parker and husband Justin of Del City; grandson, Chris Stillwell and wife Kristen of Lakewood, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Anysa, Luke and Brax Willmon of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Hannah, Landon and Lylleigh Parker of Del City, and Jackson Stillwell of Lakewood, Colo. When Mozell’s son married Polly she lovingly acquired grandchildren, Dana Shelburne and husband Mike of Shawnee and Don Willis of Gallup, N.M.; great-grandchildren, Corey Shelburne and wife Jessica of Midwest City, Kelli Childers and husband James of Shawnee, and McKinzey and Logan Willis of Gallup, N.M.; great-great-grandchilden, Lucy Shelburne of Midwest City. Mozell was looking forward to meeting the latest addition to the family, Charlie Shelburne. She is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
Family Hour will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home.
Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, at the 7th and Beech Church of Christ in Durant with Bro. Michael Shelburne and Bro. John Curtis officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery near Nida, Okla. Serving as pallbearers will be Buddy Parks, Keilor Parks, Curtis Willmon, Justin Parker, Marshall Sanders and Jack Vandeventer.
