Peggy (Winn) (Jones) Cornelson

Peggy (Winn) Jones Cornelson, a resident of Pottsboro, Texas left this life and joined her Savior in Sherman, Texas on February 26, 2017 at the age of 80 years 11 months and 21 days. She was born in Ladonia, Texas on March 5, 1936 to Grover Harless and Eva Mae (Turner) Winn.

Peggy was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She was a dedicated advocate for the elderly, working for the Silver Hair Legislature in Oklahoma. Peggy enjoyed crocheting, reading murder mysteries and writing poetry.

Mrs. Cornelson is survived by her daughters, Deb Davis Nichols and husband Butch of Bonham, Texas, Patti Neely of Pottsboro, Texas and Lisa Brown of Bonham, Texas; sons, Cramer Underwood of Greenville, Texas and Randy Underwood and wife Meredith of Mineola, Texas; 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Peggy Underwood of Lake Holley, Texas; son-in-law, Jerry Clinkscale of Austin, Texas; brother, John “Cotton” Winn and wife Louise of Bonham, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Cornelson was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Eva Mae Winn; husband, Roy Jones and Anthony Cornelson; brothers, Wallace, Lucien and Aubrey Winn; sisters, Edna Earl Loftice, Jean Cline, Lou Horne and Eva Lindsey; daughter, Cheryl Clinkscale; great-grandson, Justin Underwood; and son-in-law, J.D. Davis.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 1st at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Chapel in Durant, Oklahoma with John Carrell officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Bryan County, Oklahoma.
