Clark Funeral Service

Jerry Glen Ezell, 82, of Tishomingo, OK, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 28th, 2018 at his son’s home surrounded by close family.

Jerry was born on October 27th, 1935 in Beulah, Texas. On June 4, 1955, he married his former partner Ethel Marie Ezell in Pauls Valley, OK.  They had known each other for only a month.  They celebrated 28 years of marriage until Ethel succumbed to cancer in October of 1983.  In August of 1986, he remarried the late Teresa Charlene Ezell and celebrated 26 years of marriage until she too succumbed to cancer in 2014.

Now take a moment to think about Jerry.  What words come to mind; servant, respect, compassion, honor, character, loyalty, humor, friend, leader, golf.  Jerry was and is many things to many people.  He was a kind and loving husband, a gentle father, a patient grandfather; he is a retired soldier, retired electrician, an avid golfer, a best friend, and a positive role model to so many.

Jerry donated 100’s of hours to the church completing the electrical and HVAC systems, he served as a Deacon for 25 years, a Sunday School Director, he drove the church bus and perhaps most important to Jerry, he served as Papa to hundreds of children. Jerry loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing with his son and grandson.  His other passions included western novels, golf and spending time with his golf buddies.  He sunk 4 hole in ones throughout his unpaid career as a golfer.  Unpaid may not be true.  He actually has a jar of quarters earned from Sandy Northcutt.

Jerry’s service extended beyond the church.  He enlisted in the Navy in 1953 working on The WASP, an aircraft carrier.  After serving in the Navy, Jerry re-enlisted in the Air Force in 1958 where he became an aircraft mechanic and serviced weather radar equipment.  While in the Air Force, Jerry spent 18 months in Vietnam.  Jerry eventually retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant in 1975.  He then proudly graduated from Murray State College 6 years later in 1981.  Jerry became a licensed electrician in 1981, opened his own business and then retired again at the age of 65.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a. m., Friday, October 5, 2018 a the Calvary Baptist Church, 9700 US Hwy 377 S, Tishomingo, OK  73460.

The burial will follow soon after in the Condon Grove Cemetery in Milburn, OK.

Jerry is survived by his children, John Kevin and Cindy Ezell, Lesley Dwayne Ezell and step-daughter, Robbie and Brad Coleman; his grandchildren, Shaun and Ashley Heath, Logan and Tori Ezell, James and Jennifer Pickron, Timothy Pickron, Kayla Pickron, Jeremy Ezell and Levi Coleman and his son-in-law, James Kevin Pickron.

Jerry is preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Marie Ezell, his second wife, Teresa Charlene Ezell, his daughter, Shari Marie Pickron, son, Randy Glen Ezell and grandson, Joshua Levi Pickron.
