C. H. Chastain, 86, Warren, Oklahoma, died Friday, August 12, 2011 at the Norman Veterans Center, Norman, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the Warren Church of Christ with Roger Todd officiating. Burial will follow services at the Warren Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.
C. H. Chastain was born August 4, 1925 in Blair, Oklahoma to John W. and Hope (Burks) Chastain. He attended Warren School and enlisted in the United States Navy. He served during WWII and the Korean War and was honorably discharged in June of 1951. He married Reola Cates on December 22, 1946 in Wichita, Kansas. To this union five sons were born. Mr. Chastain worked for the Halliburton Company for over 40 years, starting in Healdton, Oklahoma, and retiring as a frac engineer in the early 1980’s in Woodward, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Warren Church of Christ, the National Ostrich Association, the Warren Cemetery Board, and served as Fire Chief of the Warren Volunteer Fire Department for four years. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, woodworking, working his wheat farm and raising cattle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Reola, of 57 years, and a son, Carl Chastain.
He is survived by four sons; Dwan Chastain of Woodward, OK, Rex Chastain and wife, Tammie, of Ferris, TX, John Craig Chastain and wife, Peggy, of Evansville, IN, and Mark Chastain of Norman, OK; three brothers, Dale Cates and wife, Chick, of Beaver, OK, Bob Cates and wife, Jimmy, of Northeast, NM, and Gary Cates of Elmwood, OK; one granddaughter, Jennifer Erin Harris and her husband, Chris, of College Station, TX; and a host of friends.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at the funeral home.
