Jack Green Gordon

Funeral services for Jack Green Gordon, 85, are to be held at 2 p.m., today, November 27, 2010, at the Calvin First Baptist Church with Jason Carter and Rev. Jarrod Kendall officiating. He will be laid to rest at Calvin Cemetery under the direction of Hudson Phillips Funeral Home of Holdenville. Pallbearers are Walter Mitchon, Tony Mitchon, Larry Wilson, Peter Voth, Jeremiah Voth, and Elijah Voth. An online guest book is available at Phillips Funeral Service.

Jack Green Gordon was born April 22, 1925, in Spaulding, OK and passed away Nov. 24, 2010 in Enid, OK at the age of 85 years.

Son to Walter Loren and Iva Caldona (Watters) Gordon, he was a veteran of the United States Army. Jack served in World War II and the Korean War. After the service, Jack married Mary Louise McDonald in Holdenville and to this union were three children. Mary preceded Jack in death on May 24, 1995. Jack later married Evelyn Sanford on May 15, 2004.

Jack graduated with his bachelor's degree from East Central State University in Ada. He began his teaching career at Lamar School. He later taught at Ketchum, White Oak and Bowlegs. He later earned his master's degree from the University of Oklahoma and began a career in school administration. He was principal at Newkirk Schools and later became the superintendent of Kremlin Hillsdale Schools and was there from 1965 until he retired in 1985. Jack was instrumental in the first kindergarten, band program and eight-man football team at Kremlin. His community involvement included long time service to the Kremlin Lion's Club where he helped open the first City Swimming Pool. Jack's hobbies included fishing, gardening, playing dominoes and small engine repair.

Surviving are his wife, Evelyn; children Randy Gordon, Lisa Gordon, Jacque and Dean Voth, a step-daughter, Debbie and Larry Wilson, brothers: Charles Gordon and James Gordon, sister, Wilma Mitchon, grandchildren: Taylor Gordon; Peter and Lacey, Jeremiah and Julia, Benjamin, Mari Ryan, Elijah, and Malia Voth; Amity and Jason Carter; Trapper, Laramie, and Ashlan Wilson; great grandchildren: Ava Voth, Riley Voth, Emily, Lindsay, Jacob and Aaron Carter and Tess and Harris Wilson. Jack also leaves a host of other family and friends that will miss him.
