The funeral for Marilyn Marie Sellars, 55, of Fairview, Oklahoma, will be 10:30 a.m., August 17, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church in Fairview, Oklahoma. The Reverend Rich Redinger will officiate. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery northeast of Selman at a later date. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.

Marilyn was born September 24, 1959, in Woodward, Oklahoma, to Elmer and Carolyn Semmel Yauk, who have both preceded her in death. Marilyn died Thursday, August 13, 2015, at the OU Medical Center following a brief illness.

Marilyn was baptized in October 1959 at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo, Oklahoma and was confirmed in May 1974. She later rededicated her life to Christ as her personal Savior in May 1996. She lived every day relying on the guidance of God.

She was raised on the family farm near Selman, Oklahoma, graduating from Buffalo High School in 1978. Marilyn was very active during high school. Some of the activities she participated in were basketball, school plays, FHA, STUCO, and she led the class as Valedictorian. She then completed her undergraduate degree in Business Education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She later graduated with honors from Central State University with a Master�s Degree in Vocational Education in 1985.

Marilyn married Dale Gates in 1981 and had two children: Katy Gates Heisler and husband Ethan, of Pawnee, OK and Clint Gates of Weatherford, OK. She later married John Sellars in 1997. They have three children of the home, Danielle, Brittney and Heather Kammerzell.

She taught high school vocational business classes at Cashion Public Schools, High Plains Area Technology Center, Kingfisher Public Schools, and Northwest Area Technology Center before becoming an administrative assistant with the Department of Human Services, Oklahoma Child Support Services in Fairview.

Marilyn has been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fairview, Oklahoma for many years, serving on several committees, and volunteering with Vacation Bible School, King�s Kids, and Sunday School.

Surviving are her husband John Sellars of Fairview; daughter Katy Marie Gates Heisler and husband Eathan of Pawnee, OK., son Clint Dale Gates Drummond, OK and children Danielle, Brittney, and Heather Kammerzell of the home. Marilyn is also survived by her sisters, Joyce Yauk and Linda Welch and husband Todd all of Enid, Oklahoma; brother, Paul Yauk and wife Sarah of Buffalo, Oklahoma; and her nephews, Alex Yauk and wife Hannah of Wichita, Kansas, Mark Todd Welch of Enid and niece Rachel Yauk Feix and husband Carson of Oklahoma City.

Marilyn will be remembered by her contagious laugh, her compassionate heart and her helpful nature. She enjoyed entertaining, often having family for holidays, and their friends for bridge club.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fairview First United Methodist Church.
