William Chester Foote, age 84, died Saturday, at Veterans Center in Clinton, Oklahoma.

He was born at the family home east of Laverne, Oklahoma. He married Veda Gosner on Aug. 19, 1949. She preceded him in death.

He served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1964, when he was honorably discharged.

He worked for the U.S. Postal Service later, becoming a rural mail carrier.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jessie DeWayne; and a sister, Viola Lucile.

The funeral service were held at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Laverne, Oklahoma, with the Rev. Michael Wilcox presiding. Burial was at the Laverne Memorial Cemetery, with full military graveside rites by the Laverne/Buffalo American Legion.

Memorials are suggested to the Laverne Cemetery, the Alzheimer's Association or American Legion Post No. 273 in care of Myatt Funeral Home, Laverne, Oklahoma.
