David "Dave" Ashpaugh

August 19, 1903 ~ September ??, 1984

Laverne - Funeral services for David (Dave) Ashpaugh, 81, of Slapout, will be Tuesday at 2 PM in the Fairview United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wesley Peterman and Rev. Charles Dozer officiating.

Burial will be in the Laverne Cemetery under direction of Seeger Funeral Home in Laverne.

Ashpaugh died suddenly Friday evening at his home south of Slapout.

He was born August 19, 1903, at Endicott, Nebraska, the son of Charles A. and Delia Belle Ashpaugh. The family moved to Oklahoma in 1905 and settled near Gage.

On January 27, 1927, in Lipscomb, Texas, he was united in marriage to Maysie Retta Lewis. The Ashpaughs lived near Gage until they moved to a farm southeast of Slapout. In 1945, they purchased a farm 1/2 miles south of Slapout where he and Maysie lived.

He was a member of the Adventist Church in Shattuck.

He was preceded in death by one son, Wilbert Lee Ashpaugh; four brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Maysie, of the home; a son, Herbert Dave Ashpaugh, of Laverne; one brother, Virgil of Norman; one sister, Mrs. Verlin (Ruby) Dilger of Pampa, Texas; two grandsons and three great – grandchildren.
