William's Story

William Allen Bair, long time Harper County resident, peacefully passed away Sunday, August 28, 2016 at his home in Noble, Oklahoma, surrounded by his family at the age of 75.

Bill was born December 9, 1940, in Eldorado, Kansas to Paul and Helen Bair. In 1943, the family moved to Oklahoma to take over the family farm located North of Selman. He attended Selman schools where he graduated in 1959. He started college at Northwestern State College in Alva, Oklahoma. On May 31, 1960, he married his childhood sweetheart Vickie Ellen Neiden in Buffalo, Oklahoma. The couple later moved to Norman, Oklahoma where he graduated with a degree in Finance and Business Administration from Oklahoma University in 1964.

Bill and Vickie moved back to Selman where they raised their three kids Teri, Brett and Brook. Bill farmed for many years and in 2002 was elected Harper County Commissioner, District 3. He retired in the year 2013.

He was known for his sense of humor and his friendly nature with all he met. He loved following college sports, especially O.U. football, spending time on Lake Eufaula and taking in the view from the front porch of his cabin. But his greatest love was his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Bair in 1994; his mother, Helen Bair in 2006; his twin brother, Duane Edward Bair in 2008; and nephew, Allen Todd Jones in 2005.

He is survived by his wife Vickie, of the home; children, Teri Bair of Buffalo; Brett and wife Roberta of Deagu, Republic of Korea; Brook Farris and husband James of Noble, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Shannon Lauer and husband Nick of Buffalo; Blake Bair of Norman; Garrett, Bradley and Gavie Bair of Deagu; Lexi and Luke Farris of Noble; one great- grandchild, Kambree Lauer of Buffalo; three siblings, Robert of Little Elm, Texas; Nancy Bair of Wilmington, North Carolina; and Paula Jean Bair of Yukon, Oklahoma other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral Services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo, Oklahoma on Friday, September 2, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Randy Foote officiating. Interment will follow at High Point Cemetery under the direction of Wilkinson Funeral Home of Buffalo, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo, Oklahoma or loving Care Hospice in Noble, Oklahoma in care of Wilkinson Funeral Home.
