Barbara Edna (Thompson) Perkins

Barbara Edna Perkins, age 80, of Hollis, passed away late Friday evening, May 13, 2011, at Harmon County Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Perkins was born on May 26, 1930, in San Bernardino, California to Jess and Effie (Wood) Thompson. At the age of fifteen, after her father died, the family moved to Lexington, Oklahoma in 1946. A short time later, Barbara met Clifton “Red” Perkins and they were married in 1946, and moved to Harmon County where she made her home until her death. Barbara was a Certified Nurse’s Aide and worked for many years at Harmon County Memorial Hospital and Colonial Manor II. A member of the Church of Christ, Barbara enjoyed needle point, but her most prized possession was her family.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cliff “Red” Perkins; one son, Gerald Perkins; two grandsons, Chris Perkins and Johnathan Perkins; one brother, John Thompson and two sisters, Lottie Herrington and Lillie Hubanks.

Survivors include three children, Danny Perkins of Hollis, Debbie Hightower of Texas and Clifton Dean Perkins of Houston; seven grandchildren, Jason Perkins, Devon Bullington, Wayne Hunt, Tiffany Hightower, Ashley Perkins, Anthony Perkins, Aliceia Jackson; eight great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services for Barbara Perkins will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at the O.M. Cemetery with Ed Stegal officiating. Services are under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home of Hollis.
