Janis Marie Bell

Janis Marie Bell, age 70, of Willow, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2008.

Mrs. Bell was born in Greer County on November 24, 1937, to William M. and Etta Jewell (Stout) Hood.

After attending Eastview School, until it closed, she moved to Brinkman School where she graduated in 1955.

On May 7, 1955, during her senior year, she married Hilton Bell and they spent thirty-seven wonderful years together before his death on February 14, 1992.

After their marriage, they lived in Mangum a short time before going to Pecos, Texas and then onto Alaska where Hilton worked in the oil fields. After retiring in 1984, they moved to Andrews, Texas to be closer to their daughter.

In September of 1992, Janis moved back home to Willow after Hilton's death. When her health began to decline in July of 2008, she moved to Mangum with her brother, Leon, where he cared for her until her death.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Ardell Pace and one brother, Wilburn Hood.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy Kay Davis of San Angelo, Texas; one grandchild, Dylan Hilton Davis; one great grandchild, Rylee Cheyenne Davis; one brother, Leon Hood of Mangum and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Janis Marie Bell will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at the Willow Church of Christ with Jim Foster and Todd McRay officiating. Interment will follow at the Willow Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
