Jessie Mae (McDonald) Thompson

Jessie Mae Thompson, age 89, of Mangum, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 2, 2013, at Quartz Mountain Medical Center, in Mangum

Mrs. Thompson was born at Jester, Oklahoma on December 14, 1923, to John and Clara (Stokes) McDonald. Jessie Mae attended several schools in Greer County. On September 26, 1942, she married the love of her life, Jesse (Jake) Thompson, in Mangum. The made their home in the Reed Community before moving to Mangum in 1988. For a while, Jessie Mae cooked at the Sale Barn, but most of her life was spent as a homemaker, taking care of her family. A life-long member of the United Pentecostal Church, Jessie Mae enjoyed crocheting, reading, studying her Bible and listening to gospel music.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sons, Willie George Thompson, Charlie Ray Thompson and Johnny Mack Thompson; two sisters, Verda Passmore and Edna Bell McDonald; one brother, George McDonald and two grandsons, Daniel Webster Thompson and Billy Joe Thompson. Jessie Mae is survived by eleven grandchildren, Chris Thompson and Ronda of Mangum, Steven Ray Thompson of Mangum, Robert Daniel Thompson of Borger, Texas, Jimmy Dwayne Thompson of Frederick, Kelly Renee Williams of Blair, Crystal Gayle Winsey and husband Chris of Florida, Charlie Ray Thompson, Jr. of Ponca City, Justin Thompson of Lawton, Dustin Thompson of Blair, Gena Raby and husband Glen of Mangum, Delbert Ray Bosley and wife Traci of Garvette, Arkansas; one sister, Loree Potter of Texas; one brother, Tommy Thompson and wife Effie of Mangum; a very special great grandson, Ransom Thompson, of Mangum, along with many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Jessie Mae Thompson will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 5, 2012, at the Church of New Beginnings with Pastors Keith Walls and Shawn Laughlin officiating. Interment will follow at Reed Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home.
