David Mills dies in Enid hospital

David G. Mills, a resident of Pond Creek community the past 50 years, died Saturday in St. Mary's annex at Enid following a long illness. He was 83 years old.

Born near Clarksville, Tennessee, on December 8, 1865, Mr. Mills came to the state at the opening of Oklahoma Territory in 1889. In 1893 he made the run into Cherokee Strip territory and settled on a claim near Hunter.

A few years later he moved to the farm four miles south of Pond Creek, where he had since resided except for a period when the family lived in Blackwell.

He married Anna Livingston September 3, 1902, at Enid. He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Louise Allen, son, Elliott Mills; and three grandchildren, Rosa Lee and David Allen and Dennis Mills.

Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church Monday afternoon with Rev. L. W. Cronin, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Pond Creek Cemetery with Lee – Wilson funeral home in charge.
