A private funeral for Lawrence “Larry” McGivney, 67, will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek.

He was born Aug. 26, 1939, in Enid to Emmett and Blanche “Micky” McGhee McGivney and died Tuesday, July 24, 2007.

He served in the National Guard, attended Central State University in Edmond, and Northwestern University in Alva. He worked in the oil field, did custom harvesting, operated 81 Tavern in Pond Creek and farmed in the Pond Creek area. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Pond Creek.

Surviving are one daughter, Mary Ruth Stephens of Oklahoma City; one sister, Mary Jo Sherwood of Sublette, Kan.; and one brother, Mike McGivney of Schertz, Texas.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Pond Creek EMTs or Pond Creek Firemen Association.
