MOORE, OK — Merle Ravenel McCutchan, 93, died Friday, August 9, 2013, at her daughter’s home in Moore. She was born November 29, 1919, near Rosston, Oklahoma, the daughter of Cleveland Carlisle Wilson and Marie Koch Wilson. She grew up on a farm outside Rosston and graduated from high school in 1937 in Woodward.

She met George at a dance and they were married May 3, 1946, in Alva. She worked as a school secretary and board clerk. They spent two years in Bangkok, Thailand, where he was the Southeast Asia manager for Philco-Ford’s educational operations in 1967. They retired in 1983 and built a home in Pond Creek. George died in 1991, and Merle returned to Moore in 1997 remaining until her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harold Wilson; sister, Margaret Garten; and nephews, Jack Wilson and Carl Wilson.

Survivors include her daughter, Jan Wilson of Moore; nephew, John Wilson of Houston; nieces, Cindy Houston of Valley Center, KS; and Dixie Fowler Grosshans of Oklahoma City; great-nieces Kim Skinner of Montezuma, KS, Stacey Hedges of Garnett, KS, Amy Houston of Wichita, KS, Sara Wilson of Oklahoma City, Penny Sheehan of Collinsville and Connie Patteson of Ozark, MO; her other kids, Tommy and Shirley Brooks, of Moore.

Service at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug.14, 2013, at United Methodist Church, Pond Creek, with Rev. George Lupton and Rev. Robert Harris officiating. Burial will be in Pond Creek Cemetery. Visitation 6-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug., 13, 2013, at Wilson Funeral Chapel, Pond Creek.

Memorials have been established with the First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 177, Pond Creek, OK. 73766 and First United Methodist Church, 201 W. Main St., Moore, OK 73160.
