Graveside service for Betty Lou (Goodman) Stowers Hignite, 90, of Enid, will be held Thursday, April 23, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Pond Creek Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Steve Meier officiating. Service is under the kind guidance of Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.

Betty was born Nov. 8, 1924, on a farm near Seiling, Okla., the daughter of Jake and Ester C. (Hergert) Goodman and passed away peacefully on Monday, April 20, 2015, in Enid.

She had six older brothers, Howard, Lee, Earl, Elmer, Eddie and Bill, and two younger sisters, Dolly and Patsy. Betty’s nephew, Jackie Lee Goodman was raised as her brother.

On Dec. 6, 1941, Betty and Art Stowers were married in Enid. Since Art was in the military, they lived in many places and after retirement, they settled in their hometown of Pond Creek. To this union, five children were born.

Betty was a homemaker, a wonderful mother, and a very talented person.

She had a love for music and shared it with others by playing at nursing homes, and on the radio with her brothers.

She was an excellent seamstress and loved to crochet, draw, paint ceramics and eggs. Let’s just say she could do anything she wanted just like a pro.

Her first husband passed away in May 1987, and in November 1988, she married Bill Hignite in Pond Creek.

They moved to Ohio for a few years, returning to Enid, where they made their home.

Betty was preceded in passing by her parents, both husbands, all her brothers and one sister, two grandsons, Jesse Frieouf and Joe Isaacs.

Betty is survived by all five of her children, Carlotta Isaacs, Sheila Pelletier, Mickey and Kay Stowers, Sheina Frieouf and Scott and Cathy Stowers; stepdaughter, Judy Coffield; her sister, Patsy and Norman Carpenter; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Condolences may be shared at www.stittsworthfuner alservices.com.
