© Chickasha Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Friday, August 8, 1919 March 26, 1846 ~ July 22, 1919 After an illness of a week and a few days, Amy Agusta Wilmeth at the age of 73 years, passed quietly from the scenes of earth to her heavenly home Tuesday morning July 22nd at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs Grant Lewis of Chickasha, Oklahoma, where she was visiting for a few days. Funeral services were held at the home of Grant Lewis, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment was made in the Verden cemetery. She early in life became a member of the M. E. Church and it may be said that she was faithful to the cause of Christianity until the end. She had lived the beautiful life of Christian women and mother. Her heart and hands were ever responsive to friends and neighbors during times of trouble. During the last few years her health has been poor. Amy Agusta Lester was born March 26th, 1846 at Ft Wayne, Ind, where she was married to Sylvester James Willmeth February 26, 1862. To this union were born three children, two of which are living. She and her husband began their wedded life in Kansas where they lived for 15 years. Their next home was near Greenfield, Iowa, while their last home was in Oklahoma, where her husband died. In each of these different homes with her kind and loving ways she won and held many friends. For the past 4 years she had made her home with her daughter Mrs W. M. Hanson of Amber formerly of near Chickasha. Not only her husband but a daughter also has passed over death's river before her. A daughter Mrs E. M. Hanson of Amber, a son E. T. Willmeth of Creston, Iowa who was with her during her illness; an aged sister, Mrs Marsh Chapman of Detroit, Mich, the last of a large family, several grandchildren and great grandchildren are left to mourn her death. The children and relatives were all with her at the sad end and though they are saddened at the parting they sorrow not as those who have no hope for they know that she has received the reward of her faith, that she was ready - awaiting the summons of her Savior. We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to kind friends who assisted during her illness and death. Mr and Mrs E. M. Hanson and Grandchildren |
