Beulah Berniece [Cox] Unruh
September 28, 1915 ~ June 26, 2006


Funeral service for Beulah Berniece Unruh, age 90 of Verden, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, June 29, 2006, in the First Baptist Church of Verden. Rev. Ed Whitley will officiate and Eddie Cox will assist.

Beulah was born the daughter of James Harvey Cox and Ruth Fisher Cox on September 28, 1915, in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. She died on June 26, 2006, in Anadarko, Oklahoma.

Beulah was raised south of Verden and attended Sandlin School through the eighth grade. She had five younger brothers whom she dearly loved and helped raise. Beulah married Walter E. Unruh on November 10, 1934, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. They lived south of Verden where they raised their five daughters. In 1961, they moved into Verden and resided there until 2001. Beulah enjoyed the remaining five years of her life in the Alterra Sterling House in Chickasha.

Beulah was a member of the Church of Christ. She also enjoyed attending Church and Sunday School at the First Baptist Church in Verden. Beulah was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and neighbor who cheerfully and lovingly helped anyone in need. She was also a member of the Town and Country Ladies Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband on August 17, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Olven, Vernon, J. V., Howard, and Kennith Cox.

Survivors include: five daughters & sons-in-law: Juanita & Chris Miller of Verden; Opal & Bob Layman of Branson, Missouri; Walley & Keith Upton of Oklahoma City; Verda & Don Winn of Verden; Lauri & Jackson McLane of Verden; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Rosetta Hoehn of Norge; sister-in-law: Edith Cox of Gaffney, South Carolina; sister-in-law: Ethel Cox of Chickasha; numerous nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in the Verden Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay's Verden Funeral Home.
