© The Verden News Verden, Oklahoma March 31, 1916 October 29, 1900 ~ March 26, 1916 CALLED AWAY Claude Swain, son of Mrs Florence Swain, was born at Moody, Texas, October 29, 1900. He was ten years of age when his parents came to Oklahoma. He died Sunday, March 26, 1916, at the home of his mother in Verden, death being due to pneumonia. Age, 15 years and 5 months. His death was preceded just one week by that of his younger brother, Roy. Claude was converted and always lived an upright Christian life. He was a boy of noble character and was beloved by all who knew him. One of the strongest points of his character was great love for his mother. He was an honest and faithful young man, a kind and obedient son, and a good and loving brother. Besides his mother he leaves a father, three brothers and one sister and a host of friends and relatives to mourn his loss. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church at 4:00 o'clock Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev P. F. Harman and his body laid to rest by the side of his brother in the Verden cemetery. © The Verden News Verden, Oklahoma February 24, 1928 1900 ~ February 17, 1928 "Funeral Services For John Swain Held Wednesdsy" Funeral services for John Swain, age 28, who died from a wound inflicted by the accidental discharge of a gun at Wink, Texas, Saturday were held here Wednesday afternoon at 8 p. m. Rev. Harmon of Anadarko had charge of the services and interment made in the Verden Cemetery. John, was reared here and is a son of Mrs Florence Swain, who resided here until about a year ago when she moved to Chickasha and purchased the Star Cafe. Deceased leaves to mourn his departure beside his dear mother, three brothers, Clyde, Jack and Bobbie, and a sister, Mrs Joe West of Pampa, Texas |
