13 October 1895 ~ 2 February 1986


VERDEN ~ Services for Effie Roper, 90, of Verden will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Verden United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ben Williams, pastor, officiating.

Roper was born Oct. 13, 1895 in Tishomingo and died Sunday at a Chickasha nursing home.

She married Claude Roper and together they farmed for several years in the Verden area. Roper and her husband owned and operated the Phillips 66 Service Station from 1949 until 1983. She continued operation of the station after his death Jan. 31, 1974.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.

She was a member of the Verden United Methodist Church, the Rebekah Lodge and the Eastern Star.

Survivors include two sons, Virgil of Weatherford and Kenneth of Broken Bow, and four grandchildren.

Burial will be in the Verden Cemetery under direction of the Hansen-Binyon Chapel of the Brown-Binyon Funeral Home.

Helen Roper

Helen, the year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Roper, died Friday morning about five o'clock, after an illness of about two weeks.

Funeral services were held at Verden cemetery Saturday morning at eleven o'clock.
