© Anadarko Daily News Anadarko, Oklahoma Monday, April 29, 1985 March 31, 1936 ~ April 27, 1985 Services for James Duane Prather, 49, of Verden will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Verden First Baptist Church with the Rev. Burl Mackey, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Bob Willis of Oklahoma City. The euology will be read by Pat Robinson of Chickasha and Masonic services will be conducted by the Rev. Russell Long. Prather was born March 31, 1936 in Mountain View and died Saturday in an Oklahoma City Hospital after an extended illness. He graduated from Carnegie High School in 1954 and was married to the former Shirley Ann Nance September 12, 1959 in Carnegie. Prather moved to Verden in 1971 and had been employed by Tom's Food Limited the past 16 years. He was an active member of the Verden Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd Degree Mason. Prather was also a member of the Verden Lions Club; had served four years on the Verden School Board, and was a past Verden City Councilman. He had coached little league baseball in Verden the past eight years. Prather was preceded in death by his father, Ewell M. Prather. Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Terry [Robin] Eaton of Chickasha and Mrs. Keith [Shawn] Choat of Verden; a son David of Verden; his mother, Orpha Prather of Carnegie; four brothers, Bill of Oklahoma City, Belvie of Anadarko, J. W. of Las Vegas, Nev., and Lewis of Denver, Colo.; three sisters, Margaret Gilbert and Mrs. Skeet (Norma) Gibson, both of Carnegie, and Mrs. Herb [Jean] Monrow of Salina, Kan., and two grandsons, Brice and Brock Eaton, both of Chickasha. Burial will be in the Verden Cemetery under direction of the Hansen-Binyon Chapel in Verden. |

Eulogy was given by Pat Robinson of Chickasha. Rev. Bob Willis of Oklahoma City was assisting. Masonic Services were conducted by Rev. Russell Long. Mr. Prather was born March 31, 1936 at Mountain View, OK and he died April 27, 1985 at OK City, OK. He and Shirley Ann Nance were married on September 12, 1959 at Carnegie. Mr. Prather graduated from Carnegie High School in 1954. He moved to Verden in 1971 and had worked for Tom's Foods Limited for the past sixteen years. Mr. Prather was active in the Verden Masonic Lodge where he had attained 32nd degree. He was a member of the Verden Lions Club and had served four years on the Verden School Board. Mr. Prather was a Verden City Councilman until this year. He had coached Little League Baseball for eight years. He was preceded in death by his father, Ewell M. Prather. Prather of Las Vegas, Nev., Lewis Prather of Denver, CO, 3 sisters, Margaret Gilbert of Carnegie, Mrs. Skeep (Norma) Gibson of Carnegie and Mrs. Herb [Jean] Monroe of Salina, KS, 2 grandsons, Brice Eaton of Chickasha, several nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews. |
