Melton Eden "Bud" Osborne


Funeral services for Melton Eden (Bud) Osborne, of P. O. Box 247, Verden, OK, were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 25, 1985 at the First Methodist Church in Verden. Rev. Ed Whitley officiated and Rev. Spencer Ahpeahtone of Carnegie assisted.

Melton was born January 31, 1909 in Verden and he died February 21, 1985, in Verden.

He and Viola Talkington were married on September 10, 1929 in Verden.

Mr. Osborne returned to Verden, OK. in 1964 from California.

He had worked in the Verden area as a self-employed plumber.

Mr. Osborne was an American Indian of the Delaware Tribe and held the position of Elder of the Tribe.

He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Verden.

Mr. Osborne was a former member of the Verden Lions Club and of the Independent Order of Oddfellows.

He was preceded in death by both parents, John R. Osborne and Alice F. Fitzpatrick, four brothers, and one sister and a grandson, Dane Eden Osborne.

He is survived by his wife, Viola T. Osborne of the home, 1 daughter, Chiquita Anne Downes of Pasagoula, Miss., 1 son, David M. Osborne of Shawnee, OK., 3 sisters, (Thelma McDaniel of Texas) Mary Rice of Encinitas, Calif., Mae Walker of San Jose, Calif, 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Verden Cemetery under the direction of Hansen-Binyon Chapel.
