Chickasha, Oklahoma June 2021 May 5, 1938 ~ June 7, 2021 Graveside service for Ben Milam, age 83 of Chickasha, will be 2 pm Friday, June 11, 2021, at the Verden Cemetery, Verden,OK. Benjamin Lemuel Milam was born the third of nine children to Finis Jerome Milam and Avis Voleta [Taylor] Milam in the family home southwest of Verden on May 5, 1938. He passed away Monday, June 7, 2021 at his home east of Chickasha. Ben attended grade school at Roach School, southwest of Verden, and graduated high school at Verden in 1956. While still in high school, he joined the 95th Division of the Army Reserve and was honorably discharged in 1964 as a Spec. 5 Intermediate Radio Operator. Ben married Shirley Ann Summers in 1959 and they had one son Robert Lynn Milam. Ben worked for PSO for 9 years, Perdue Industries 2 years, Maremont 10 years and in 1981 he started Ben Milam Heat, Air & Electric. He sold the business and retired in 2004. Ben served on the Chickasha Auxillary Police under Chief Roy Carmon. While he lived in Tuttle he served on the city council and volunteer fire department. He also was a member of the Lion's Club and Jaycees. In Rush Springs he was a member of the volunteer fire department, Lion's Club, and Jaycees. Ben was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, Antique Auto Club of America, and he held a lifetime Oklahoma hunting and fishing license. He loved hunting, fishing and restoring old cars and tractors. He enjoyed watching OU & OSU football and basketball. He also loved southern gospel music and helping others. Ben gave his life to the Lord at Roach Baptist Church at age 11. He joined the First Assembly of God Church in Chickasha in 1985. Preceding him in death were both parents, sister Wanda Randle and husband Harrel, sister Donna "Sue" O'Neal and husband Carl, brother Wendell (Sam) Milam and wife Francis, Brother Clint Milam and brother Claude "Doc" Milam. Surviviors include son Robert Lynn Milam and wife Susan of Tulsa, granddaughter Lindsay Marie McDaniel and husband Aaron of Tulsa, and grandson Casey Lynn Milam and wife Katherine of Oklahoma City. Five great-grandchildren: Cason Milam McDaniel and Parker Scott McDaniel of Tulsa and Maxwell Robert, Hendrix Benjamin and Marley Vaughn Milam of Oklahoma City. Also surviving him are sister Verla Parker and husband Earl of Blanchard, sister Joyce Hobgood of Verden, brother Rodney and wife Linda of Yukon, and many wonderful nieces, nephews and other relatives. Services are with McRay Funeral Home. |
© Eisenhour Funeral Home Blanchard, Oklahoma June 2015 October 17, 1943 ~ June 15, 2015 He was preceded in death by his parents Finis Jerome and Avis Voleta [Taylor] Milam and granddaughter Angel Ford. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, one son, eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, four sisters and four brothers. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Verden. Interment will be at Verden Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Eisenhour Funeral Home, Blanchard Oklahoma. |
