Verden, Oklahoma February 1922 September 11, 1870 ~ February 16, 1922 Mary Isabelle Kelley was born in Saline County, AR, September 11, 1870. She moved with her parents to Texas at the age of thirteen. Two years later she was converted and placing her faith in Christ and became a member of the Methodist church. On September 20, 1891, she married A.T. Mecoy, at Liberty, TX. In 1902 she and her husband moved to Oklahoma and located on a farm four miles north east of Verden where she lived until her death. Her death occurred on Thursday, February 16, 1922. She was the mother of six children and in addition to these, she leaves to mourn her death, a husband, father and five sisters. Funeral services were held at the Verden Baptist Church on Friday with Reverend Taylor officiating. Her remains were laid to rest in our silent city followed by a large concourse of relatives and friends. This good mother ran the race of life in 51 years and was a faithful wife and a kind and loving mother, a Christian and good neighbor. |
