May 20, 1855 ~ December 15, 1928 James Allen Meadows was born May 20, 1855, in Buchanan county, Missouri, near St. Joseph, died December 15, 1928, age 73 years 6 months and 25 days. His health has been failing for six or seven years, he realized the end was near, and quietly passed away at 2:30 Friday morning. He was married to Alice Duncan, November 4, 1877. To this union were born four children, three who are living. One passed away several years ago. The living children are: N. E. Meadows, of Arkansas: F. L. Meadows of Chickasha and Mrs. J. L. Kilgore of Pocasset. He leaves a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. He has been a member of the Christian church for many years. For the last two years he has made his home with his children. At the time of his death he was living with his daughter, Mrs. J. L. Kilgore. His children have lost a dear father, his grandchildren and relatives, a friend, his country and community, a good citizen and neighbor. Services were conducted at the home by Rev. W. W. Martin, pastor. Interment was made in the Verden Cemetery. Contributed by W. W. Martin |

1924 ~ September 18, 1924 DEATH ANGELS TAKES INFANT Betty Alice, infant daughter of F. L. and Elizabeth Meadows, died at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Carpenter, Sept. 13, 1924 age 3 months and 20 days. Betty Alice had been sick for some time and all medical skill failed to restore her health. She leaves mother and father, two brothers and two sisters to mourn her death. Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church, Bro. Taylor having charge. Interment was made at Verden Cemetery. |
