© The Verden News Verden, Oklahoma January 9, 1953 December 17, 1872 ~ January 1, 1953 Funeral services for Joe B. Kent were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Baptist Church. Rev C. W. Taylor officiated, assisted by Rev Kenneth Elkins, pastor. Music for the service was rendered by Misses Marilyn Heavin, Sue Ann Finley, Yvonne Hunt and Nancy Brice who sang "The Lord Is My Shepherd," "The Last Mile of the Way" and "Beyond the Sunset." Mrs Donald Brown accompanied them on the piano. Casket bearers were Roy Hamrick, Russell Hamrick, Lee Fowler, Paul DeBoard, John Kern and John Rivas of Chickasha. Interment was in the Verden Cemetery with the Hansen Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Joseph Bedford Kent was born in Andrew County, Missouri, December 17, 1872 and passed away in a Chickasha hospital on January 1, 1953, at the age of 80 years and 15 days. He was married in 1901. He and his wife moved from Missouri to their farm two miles west and one mile south of Verden in 1901 where he since lived. His wife preceded him in death. Survivors include a sister and a nephew, John Hosher of Savannah, MO. and four other nieces and nephews. |
© The Verden News Verden, Oklahoma June 15, 1951 August 27, 1865 ~ June 8, 1951 MRS J. B. KENT SERVICES HELD SATURDAY, JUNE 9 Funeral services for Mrs J. B. Kent were held at 2 p.m. June 9 at the First Baptist Church with Rev C. W. Taylor officiating, assisted by Rev G. W. Gaidaroff, pastor. Music was furnished by Mrs Donald Brown, Mrs Harry Dodson, Mrs C. W. Hamill and Mrs J. N. Kern, who sange "Face to Face," "No Night There" and "What a Friend." Mrs I. H. Bilbrey was at the piano. Casket bearers were Russell Hamrick, Paul DeBoard, Lee Fowler, Kenneth West, Dale Hendricks and Roy Hamrick. Interment was in the Verden Cemetery with the Hansen Funeral Home in charge. Mrs Mary Adeline Kent was born August 27, 1865 in Andrew County, Missouri and died at 5 p.m., June 8, 1951 at the age of 85 years, 9 months and 11 days at her home two miles west and one mile south of Verden. She was married July 10, 1901 to J. B. Kent in Andrew County, Mo. and they began that day their trip to Oklahoma in a covered wagon. They settled near Verden in 1901 and have lived here since then. She joined the Baptist Church at Platt City, Missouri. Survivors include her husband, J. B. Kent, two brothers and two sisters. |
