MRS MOSIE KARNES SERVICES HELD SAT

Funeral services for Mrs Mosie Karnes were held Saturday April 30, at 2:30 p.m. in the First Baptist, with the Rev Jim Robertson officiating.

Helen Faye Lamar was born in Edgar Springs, Mo. January 21, 1906, and passed away in Verden, Okla. April 28, 1960 at the age of 54 yrs. 3 mo. and 7 days.

Her family moved from Missouri to Verden in 1923.

She was united in marriage to Mosie Karnes on August 15, 1939 at Verden, Okla. She was converted in the Baptist Church.

Those left to mourn her departure are her husband, Mosie Karnes of Verden, two brothers, Harlen Lamar, of Rollo, Mo. and Bob Lamar of Chickasha, two sisters, Mrs Marie Hinkle and Mrs Denzil Barnett, both of Verden, also a host of other relatives and friends.

Casket bearers were: Chester Heavin, Raymond Heavin, Oren Heavin, Donald Lair, Lester Heavin and Donald Heavin.

Songs were Rock of Ages, "Near to the Heart of God" and "Beyond the Sunset," rendered by a quartet composed of Mrs Aubrey Finley, Mrs Jim Robertson, Mrs Donald Lair and Mrs Dale Henricks, accompanied by Mrs Donald Brown.

Interment was in the Verden Cemetery under the direction of Hansen Funeral Home.

Jessie Harold "Jess" Karnes
April 16, 1911 ~ November 14, 1962


Funeral services for Jess Harold Karnes, 51, were held Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Rev Charles Ledbetter officiating. He was assisted by Rev Coryln Ferris of Elderberry.

Music was by Mrs W. A. Finley and Mrs Chester Heavin with Mrs Max Upchurch accompanying. Pallbearers were Ewell Elder, John Elder, Chester Heavin, Lester Heavin, Paul DeBoard and Raymond Ferris.

Interment was in Verden Cemetery under the direction of Hansen Funeral Home.

Mr Karnes was born in the Elderberry community and had lived near Verden most of his life.

He died in a Clinton hospital after a short illness.

Survivors are three sons, Harold Keith and Coy Dwayne of the home and Gary Lee of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Marilyn Sue of the home; his mother, Mrs Kate Caldwell of Verden; two brothers, James L. and Orville of Oklahoma City; and one sister, Mrs Susie Baker of Oaklawn, Ill.

Robert Charles Karnes
August 6, 1937 ~ August 21, 1940


Robert Charles Karnes, son of Mr and Mrs Jessie Karnes died at his parents home southwest of Verden at 3:00 o'clock p. m., August 21, 1940.

Robert was 3 years and 15 days old and had been ill about two weeks.

The funeral was conducted here at the Baptist church at 10 a. m. on August 23.

Surviving members of the family are his parents, three sisters, Grace W. Farris, Margaret R. Karnes, Yvonne Karnes, his grandmother of Anadarko.

Interment was made in the Verden cemetery with the Hansen Funeral Home in charge of burial arrangements.

Mrs Mary E. Karnes died at the home of her son, southwest of town, Wednesday night after a lingering illness. She had been afflicted 17 years with paralysis and confined to her bed most of the time.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church here Friday morning at 1000 o'clock with Rev Spradlin of Gracemont officiating.

Survivers include one son, Mose Karnes, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Interment was made in the Verden cemetery.

Delphenia A. [McClaflin] Karnes
December 29, 1944 ~ May 5, 2010


CHICKASHA - Funeral services for Delphenia A. Karnes, 65 of Chickasha, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 8, 2010, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel.

Delphenia A. Karnes was born December 29, 1944, in Chickasha, the daughter of Louis and Beulah [Wright] McClaflin. She died May 5, 2010, in Oklahoma City. She grew up in the Chickasha and Rush Springs area.

Delphenia married Andrew Joyce in 1962. This union blessed them with four sons; Jack, John, James and Jay. Andrew preceded her in death in 1991. She later married her husband, Keith Karnes in the spring of 2004. They have had six wonderful years together.

She had worked as a waitress, she had worked for Wal-Mart for twelve years and she had managed the Chickasha Eagles Lodge.

She was a people person. She enjoyed helping people and she enjoyed spending time with her family. She always had a positive attitude and a smile on her face.

She was preceded in death by her father; one sister, Corine Lacy; her husband, Andrew; and one step-son, Fritz Joyce.

Delphenia is survived by her husband, Keith of the home; her mother, Beulah [Wright] McClaflin; four sons and daughters-in-law: Jack Joyce, John and Kathy Joyce, James Joyce and Jay and Mary Beth Joyce; two step-daughters: Keri and Frankie Karnes; two brothers and sister-in-law: Bud McClaflin and Robert and Maryland McClaflin; two sisters and brother-in-law: Patsy and Buddy Rogers and Juanita Clark; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Interment will be in the Verden Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

William Henry Karnes
April 8, 1867 ~ February 26, 1941


William Henry Karnes, pioneer citizen, died Wednesday morning at him home here after a brief illness from bronchial pneumonia. He was 73 years of age.

Mr and Mrs Karnes had recently moved from south of town to the Lamar property, having lived near Verden for 35 years. Mr Karnes, earlier in life, taught school, but later years had farmed.

The funeral services were held at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the First Baptist church with Rev Wilkes Spradlin Dean officiating.

Mr Karnes was born April 8, 1867 at Edgar Springs, Missouri. Was married to Minnie M. Davis in 1891 and to this union seven children were born, three of whom preceded him in death.

Mr Karnes was a consecrated Christian and a loving father to his family, having gained highest esteem of all who knew him by his sincere fellowship of rotherly love to all.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs Minnie Karnes; four daughters, Mrs Myrtle Cliff, Cement, Mrs Edith Joycoy, Hobbs, New Mexico; Mrs Millie Cuniff, Sour Lake, Texas; and Mrs Grace Akin, Gracemont; one son, Arthur, Verden; one sister, Mrs Mollie Pliler, Baxter Springs, Kansas; 3 brothers, G. M. Karnes, of Tulare, Calif.; J. E. Karnes, Walnut Ridge, Ark.; Mike Karnes of Verden.
