© The Verden News Verden, Oklahoma November 4, 1927 1863 ~ November 1, 1927 Mrs. Jimmie Jones [Nellie Bert-Jones], a pioneer citizen at Verden passed away at the Wesley hospital in Oklahoma City, Tuesday night at 11 o'clock. Mrs. Jones had only been in the hospital about a week where she had undergone an operation. Deceased's body was taken to Anadarko Wednesday and was brought here for burial Thursday. The general services were held at the Methodist church Thursday at 2 p. m., with Rev. Methvin of Anadarko officiating, and interment made in Verden cemetery. Mr. Jones [James Nelson Jones] is critically ill at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Robert Dempsey, east of town, he had a stroke of paralysis Sunday. Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband and tw0 children, Mrs. Frank Love, Bill and Duke Jones of Oklahoma City; Mrs. Ralph Courtney, Eva and Ada Bell of Anadarko; Jimmie Jones of Chickasha; Mrs. Robert Dempsey and Mrs. Earl Melton of Verden. |

JONES SERVICES HELD HERE SUNDAY Funeral services for Aaron Richard Jones were held at the Verden Baptist Church Sunday April 10 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Harold Watson, pastor, officiating, assisted by Rev. Tom Graham. Interment was in the Verden Cemetery with the Hansen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Jones suffered a heart attack early Wednesday and died at 3:15 a.m. April 6 at the home. He and Mrs. Jones came January 12 from San Diego, Calif. to help care for his sister, Mrs. Charlie Harris. Mr. Jones was born October 8, 1888 in Indiana and passed away at the age of 66 years, five months and 28 days. Music for the services was rendered by Mrs. Max Upchurch, Mrs. Donald Brown, Ed Adkisson and Ed Nelson. They sang Beyond the Sunset, Take My Hand, Precious Lord and The Old Rugged Cross. Mrs. Ed Nelson was pianist. Casket bearers were Lee Fowler, Donald Brown, C. B. Dabney, J. J. Totten, Oren Heavin and Houston Beene. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Anna Lee Jones, Verden; one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Lowes of San Antonio, Texas; his mother, Mrs. Lizzie E. Jones of Terra Haute, Indiana; two brothers, Roscoe Jones of San Antonio and John Jones of Terra Haute, Indiana and three sisters, Mrs. Lena Morris of Walla Walla, Washington; Mrs. Sparks of Detroit, Michigan and Flora of Terra Haute, Ind. Mrs. Lowes and Roscoe Jones are here for the services. |
© Chickasha Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Friday, January 30, 1920 May 3, 1894 ~ January 24, 1920 HOWARD JONES DIES AT CLARENSON, TEXAS Howard Jones, son of Mr and Mrs James N. Jones of Verden, died at Clarendon, Texas, last Saturday from pneumonia. Mr. Jones, only a few weeks ago moved to Chickasha from Verden, and engaged in the real estate business, being a member of the Chickasha Investment Company. He left here January 16th fro Hereford, Texas, intending to get his car which he had formerly left at that place and drive it home. He drove as far as Clarendon when he was compelled to stop and enter the gospital, because of illness which resulted in his death on the 24th. His wife went to Clarendon as soon as she heard of his illness and was with him when death came. The body was brought to Verden where services were held on Wednesday afternoon and burial occurred in the Verden cemetery. Mr Jones is survived by his wife, father, mother and several brothers and sisters. |
